Our Selective/Scholarship is a comprehensive program, preparing students for the Selective Schools Placement Test or ACER Scholarship tests.
Preparing for tests should encompass more than just mock tests; such an approach is based on rote-learning methods which encourage students to simply memorise solutions to various problems. Instead, we provide meaningful support by encouraging our students to truly understand how to approach an array of different question styles.
This method has been embedded into all of our exam preparation programs, focused on developing students’ thinking skills and accompanying knowledge and capabilities. Test practice is incorporated on a meaningful scale, to ensure students are also developing related confidence and time-management skills.
This program and associated mock tests have been completely updated to accommodate the latest NSW curriculum changes.
Our Selective/Scholarship program:
- Encourages students to think creatively, logically, analytically and critically; this enhances students' ability to successfully solve a broad range of question types and styles
- Ensures students understand how to comprehend more complex texts and draw conclusions between multiple sources through careful analysis
- Introduces students to a range of problem-solving strategies and ways of thinking than can be applied to solve complex problems
- Offers weekly tests, which are revised with students immediately after (one test per week, so the main focus during classes is supporting students’ skills and knowledge)
- Enable students to enhance their goal-setting abilities, perseverance and determination
- Has an excellent success rate; with many of our students gaining entry into a Selective School and/or were awarded scholarships

Our Selective/Scholarship mock test and review sessions are designed to enhance explicit test related skills, such as exam strategies and related confidence.
- Students will sit mock tests covering thinking skills, mathematical reasoning, reading and writing, before reviewing with their tutor. Written feedback is provided for writing tests
- A great opportunity for students to consolidate work completed in the course to-date
- Explicit focus on exam techniques and strategies
